DEADLINE: 20TH JUNE, 2024 Projects for Peace is a global program that partners with educational institutions to identify and support young peacebuilders. Each year, we award $1.25 million to student leaders who are developing innovative, community-centered, and scalable solutions to the world’s most pressing issues. Projects for Peace is an initiative that has been open to residents of International House—UC Berkeley to design grassroots projects for the summer—anywhere in the world—that promote peace and address the root causes of conflict among parties. parties. The initiative, Building Peace Through Digital Empowerment in Anambra State, Nigeria (Yatara Rucha), is a digital skills training program for 150 young men between the ages of 16 and 45 years old in Anambra State.
This program aims to engage the youth positively, providing them with valuable skills that open up new economic opportunities and reduce the allure of joining insurgent groups. The project proposes a comprehensive digital skills training program for young men, aimed at fostering economic opportunities and redirecting energies towards constructive activities. This approach not only provides practical skills but also instils a sense of purpose and community engagement.
PREREQUISITES
- A personal computer and/or a smartphone with WhatsApp enabled.
- Internet Connection.
- An email account.
- Your Presence.
- Male: 16–45 years old.
- Resident in Anambra State, Nigeria.
ELIGIBILITY:
Who is eligible? This is open to young men only who are 16–30 years old and reside in Anambra State, Nigeria.
Is the program fully remote/virtual/online? No. While 95% of the program is online. However, we might have 1-3 contact meetings in Awka. More details will be communicated.
What is the cost of the program?
The program is FREE for participants.
Will participants be issued a certificate? Yes, all participants who complete the training will be issued a certificate.
How intense is the program? The program is relatively intense and will require your full concentration and participation.
